My professional career is currently dedicated to MTBI Life Coaching, guiding survivors of mild traumatic brain injuries with one-on-one support for maximizing recovery and making life better.
Writing Brainlash: Maximize Your Recovery from Mild Brain Injury, now in its third edition, not only gave me an organized way to recover from my own accidents, it prompted countless requests for formal advice and support from others in similar situations.
My book Brainlash grew out of my journals and professional frustration during my own recovery, as I attempted to navigate back to full health—while finding scant guiding protocols some 20 years ago.
My MTBI Life Coaching services continue to answer the questions and address the needs of MTBI sufferers and their families to this day, focusing on individual cases and listening to each person’s journey.
Dr. Denton's energetic, humorous and straight-talking approach appeals to her coaching clients and blog and book readers—cutting to the chase on diverse concerns, saving time and energy by offering realistic tools that focus on results-oriented recovery planning.
As new strategies and emerging technologies address the needs of MTBI survivors, I am able to point my clients in the direction of those approaches that actually show results.
I'm a fellow traveler, with a 30-year history in private practice as a psychotherapist, natural foods pioneer, early adopter of supplements and complementary medicine, and a keen observer of emerging healing modalities.
I've spoken to groups around the country about MTBI, written articles, taught classes and workshops and presented my favorite real-world-tested tools and strategies to survivors, family members and allied professionals focused on MTBI.
In my spare time, I get to reap the fruits of my own recovery strategies: having the energy to enjoy outdoor sports like hiking, skiing, canoeing, kayaking, bird watching, gardening and travel. I also enjoy making multi-media art, using varied approaches and mixing artistic tools and mediums.
All the artwork on this website is created by me; painted outdoors in the intermountain Southwest. Oil on canvas. Using non-outgassing paints by M. Graham and odorless solvent Gamsol.
Fueled by my love for being outdoors, plein air painting is a growing passion. I particularly enjoy oil painting outdoors in the mountains and deserts of the Southwest. The beauty of this region, coupled with the energizing experience of recording it on location, wind-bugs-dirt and all, has brought a new level of joy and intellectual challenge into my life.
I also enjoy long trips with my husband, Dan, in our RV. Not to worry, though—I still offer MTBI Life Coaching while on the road. Technology is a wonderful thing. All I need is a few bars on the cell phone and I'm in business to help you, no matter where I might be.
